It is a fruit of an evergreen tree and its seeds are used as a spice. Nutmeg spice is oval, an inch long, slightly wrinkled, dark brown on the outside, and light brown on the inside. It has a bitter, sweet, and spicy taste with a camphor-like aroma. Though similar to Javitri, it is stronger than it in flavour. Nutmeg is used in a lot of sweet as well as savoury dishes. It is predominantly used in Mughlai Cuisine and also goes well with pies, custards, puddings, cookies, and cakes.
